For this small renovation project, the clients wanted to refresh their kitchen / living / dining areas and add a new outdoor kitchen that was well connected to the interior, fit for entertaining plenty of guests.
The brief stated that all kitchen appliances, chairs and sofas were to be reused, and this project is proof that one does not always have to purchase new to obtain a spectacular result.
The spatial analysis revealed that the kitchen was positioned in the wrong place with regards to the client’s needs, so we swapped it with the dining area. The orientation of the sofas changed as well to take advantage of the extensive views and the convivial atmosphere offered by the new layout. The lighting layout has been adapted to cater to the new functionality of the space.
The modern lighting paired well with the architectural style of the building, which is a hillside, multi-storey villa boasting views of the sea, while the dining area has been linked to the exterior architecture through introducing a natural dry stone wall inside.
We used warm walnut and gold tones to add new life to the space, while the brave decision of the homeowners to select a natural quartzite worktop have turned the island into a show-stopping feature. The kitchen cabinets have pocket doors which can hide away the appliances when not in use, for a sleek look.
For the outdoor kitchen, the units are manufactured from the same walnut as indoors, and include a gas barbecue, gas burner and pizza oven.
